My paintings and works on paper are depictions of light filled, in between spaces; fleeting, yet also eternal, like memory or dreams. Revealing and concealing, they suggest a place between what was and what is; the known and unknown, the seen and the unseen. The foundation of each image contains a measured, underlying structure that is seeking to connect and define the space. While the images may seem solid at first glance, they are not intended to remain static. My color is built slowly through many layers of washes and glazes including metallics, iridescents and transference colors; which literally reflect light and shift.
I prefer to work in series and combine research and process painting. My work reflects my interest in art making as a healing modality and a spiritual practice. My most recent work investigates imagery derived from different forms and aspects of mysticism, mystery and magic; such as universal shapes, sacred geometry, patterns in nature, chakra energy centers and the cosmos.
